We’re focused on supporting the NT Defence community with engaging events while promoting useful information, entertainment and support through our publication. We welcome all members of the NT Defence community to join us. Whether you’re a serving member, spouse, family member or veteran, your lived experiences are valuable and appreciated. You can learn to conduct interviews, plan events, hone your photography skills, or develop journalistic writing skills.

 

Free training, certificates and course opportunities are just some of the benefits our members receive. Volunteering also looks great on your resume if you are between employment or having a career break. You get to help the community, build a professional network and develop real transferrable skills.

Community Coordinator

Char Carter

As a qualified life coach, military spouse and successful businesswoman, Char has brought enthusiasm and a 'can-do' attitude to The Top Ender. Her warm personality and great organisation skills make for an amazing Community Coordinator.

Community Co-Coordinator

Viv Kleemann

Viv has experience working in and managing teams of 4 through to 40 plus members across various industries, and brings her skills of leading through experience and understanding to the group. Her passion for the magazine and friendly disposition make her a great new addition.

Chairperson & Editor

Deb Herring

As an Army Veteran who manages her own career coaching and wellbeing business, Deb is focused on managing projects for the Defence/Veteran community, while also balancing motherhood. She also has a Bachelor of Behavioural Science and is an Army Reservist for Smart Soldier Magazine.

Vice Chairperson & Graphic Designer

Emma Thom

Emma is an experienced Marketer, with skills in graphic design, media and public relations. Her passion for journalism and creativity brought her to The Top Ender. She also freelances as a marketing consultant, giving her the flexibility to work around Defence life and her 6 year old daughter.

Secretary & Public Officer

Paul Carter

Paul is a new edition to our ranks, bringing with him plenty of experience from his role in Defence. As a serving member, Paul's skills and unique viewpoint make him a valued addition to The Top Ender.

Treasurer

Georgia Usher

With a career spanning 20 years, RAAF veteran Georgia Usher spent much of her time in the Top End. With Diplomas in Finance Broking, Business (Auditing) and remedial Massage, Georgia held the position of DFA Delegate until relocating and undertaking the role of Treasurer – her way of “giving-back where I can”. Georgia’s wealth of Defence and financial knowledge is a huge asset to the Top Ender.

There is no minimum or maximum time obligations, we only ask that you join us for our monthly meetings wherever possible.
